Gili Trawangan is becoming an increasingly popular destination for travelers looking to explore Indonesia and get away from the hustle and bustle of Bali.
However with an increasing number of people coming to this tiny paradise island, we are eager to maintain the beautiful beaches, coral and fish life. With this in mind, the dive centres of Gili Trawangan have banded together to do a weekly beach clean up every Friday. This clearing of rubbish and debris which would otherwise have ended up in the ocean, destroying coral and marine life, has been hugely effective, collecting hundreds of kilograms of rubbish over the last couple of years.
It has also been made into a fun event with everyone gathering afterwards to relax and collect a free beer at the dive centre in reward for their hard work.
We welcome anyone coming to Gili Trawangan to get involved in helping maintain the quality of the island we love – so please feel free to ask at Big Bubble for info on the next one when you come!
